Nicholas R. Thompson, 26, also must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and be under parole supervision for life, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. And he's banned from holding a public job.
Thompson was an off-duty Class II special officer when he tried to assault the woman at a private home in January 2021, authorities said.
Thompson’s plea agreement was reached in May, after consultation with the victim.
During his plea, Thompson admitted that he attempted to have sex with the victim while she was unconscious and incapable of consent.
Thompson originally was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, the prosecutor said.
